what does it mean to be passionate about something?

i feel like i’m passionate about a lot of things and nothing at the same time. i love photography but do i have a passion for it? not really. i enjoy taking pictures but i don’t go out of my way to capture great images.i love painting but haven’t in years because i ‘don’t have the time’. i love food but hate cooking. i love helping others but again, ‘can’t find the time to give back’.

if you’re passionate about something shouldn’t you live and breathe it, live it and love it? if i’m complacent about what i love doing then i can’t be passionate about it.

does finding my passion mean i have to do some major soul-searching to find what is it? or should i already know? does everyone even have a passion? can i love a lot of things and not have any real passions?

so where do i go from here? make the time to do the things i love in hopes of realizing that my passion already exists, that it just needs to be flushed out? or do i continue as i am with the hopes that i’ll eventually figure out that it’s something completely different?

i envy those who know it, live it, love it, and who can say ‘this is my passion’. to be able to say that is one thing that i am passionate about.
